My Fair Lady 2026 – audition information

Auditions for My Fair Lady are on Saturday 13th December, starting at 11am (schedule to be worked out based on those auditioning) at Sharnbrook Mill Theatre.

More information about the show, including the story, characters and audition pieces will be given out at the Workshops prior to the auditions where you will also be taught the songs and dance sequence for auditions.

If you would like to audition for the show, please fill in this audition form. Please note: only those aged 18 and above can perform in My Fair Lady.

Show dates are 12th-16th May 2026 with a dress rehearsal on 11th May.

Principal Roles

Eliza Doolittle

Description: A strong-willed, intelligent Cockney flower girl who transforms into a poised, articulate woman. Requires excellent dialect control: Cockney and Received Pronunciation (RP)

Playing Age Range: 20-35

Vocal Range: Soprano (strong legit soprano with belt mix helpful)

Notes: Demanding acting role with emotional range; must handle significant stage time and vocal stamina.

Professor Henry Higgins

Description: An eccentric, brilliant, socially awkward phonetics expert. Highly opinionated, often insensitive, but charismatic in his own way.

Playing Age Range – 40-60

Vocal Range: Baritone (mostly character-sung/speech-sung)

Notes: Strong actor. More of a spoken-singing role; requires strong comedic timing and verbal dexterity.

Colonel Pickering

Description: Warm, polite, considerate linguistics scholar who contrasts Higgins’ brusqueness. Acts as Eliza’s advocate and moral compass. 

Playing Age Range: 50–70

Vocal Range: Baritone

Notes: Gentle humor; strong supporting role.

Alfred P. Doolittle

Description: Eliza’s fun-loving but irresponsible father; a philosophical dustman with great comic flair. 

PlayingAge Range: 45–65

Vocal Range: Baritone 

Notes: Requires strong stage presence and comedic timing; leads two energetic ensemble numbers. Energetic movement and cockney accent required. 

Freddy Eynsford-Hill

Description: Earnest, romantic young aristocrat who becomes infatuated with Eliza. 

Playing Age Range: 20–30

Vocal Range: Tenor (needs lyrical tenor quality)

Notes: Charming and sincere. Sings the ballad “On the Street Where You Live.”

Mrs. Pearce

Description: Higgins’ housekeeper who manages the household with firm kindness.

Playing Age Range: 40–60

Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano

Notes: Strong character role; must balance humor with authority.

Mrs. Higgins

Description: Higgins’ poised, witty, sophisticated mother. A provider of common sense and empathy.

Playing Age Range: 60–75

Vocal range: Ensemble singing 

Notes:
 Dry wit; elegant comedic role.

Zoltan Karpathy

Description: A Hungarian phonetician and former student of Higgins who attempts to expose Eliza as an imposter. Playing Age Range: 30–50

Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor (character role)

Notes: Brief but memorable; comedic cameo with Hungarian accent.

  • Dance ensemble (especially in “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?” and “Get Me to the Church on Time”)

Vocal Range: Mixed

Notes: Strong dancers often featured in Doolittle’s numbers.
