Sharnbrook Mill Theatre is seeking a professional freelance Co‑ordinator to support the smooth running of events and provide a clear operational link between our departments, committees, and community partners.
This is a part‑time, flexible, freelance contract for services, ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and experience in arts, events, or charity operations.
About the Role
The Mill Co‑ordinator will ensure that all activities within the theatre – productions, hires, youth sessions, rehearsals, and events – run smoothly and consistently. You will act as the central point of communication between Production, Tech, Front of House, Youth, Publicity, and the Trustees, helping the theatre operate with clarity and cohesion.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Operations — Oversee the day‑to‑day running of shows, hires, rehearsals, and activities.
- Cross‑Department Coordination — Ensure information flows smoothly between committees and teams.
- Volunteer Liaison — Support rota organisation and confirm availability for events.
- Community & Partner Communication — Maintain practical, positive communication with local partners (e.g., hirers, schools, community groups, neighbouring businesses) when required for events or shared activity.
- Safeguarding & H&S Support — Support the implementation of safeguarding and health & safety procedures during events and activities, ensuring policies are followed and concerns are escalated appropriately.
- Operational Updates — Provide regular updates to the Chair as part of the contracted service.
Hours & Payment
- Approximately 10 hours per week, varying with activity levels
- £1,000 per calendar month, invoiced as a freelance contractor
- Contract for services — This role is not salaried and does not constitute employment
- Occasional additional hours may be agreed in advance during busy periods
